Cadium Music’s 2021 Year-End Wrap and What’s Next

Admittedly, this post should have come earlier in the quarter. Instead of a close look at what transpired over the last few months, this piece has morphed into becoming Cadium Music's 2021 Year-End Wrap. The year got off to a fast start with the signing of writer and Rikets frontman, Scott Rose. COVID-19, however, continued to interrupt the creative process and the production of the new Rikets album, which included potential collaborations with Mark Lorenzo, got shelved. Southbound 75 Continue to Rise Southbound 75, continued to build its base in south Florida and finally released Tales from the Black Swamp through Bad Jeu [...]

2020 Opens with Cadium News and Buzz

Before 2020 got started, Ekoh and Lolife released new material. Lolife dropped "Liar," which has a surprisingly nice Level 42 vibe to it - complete with saxophone. Curtis Martin co-wrote the track. Also, Ekoh decided to squeeze in one more song before the end of 2019 with "Owe You Nothin'." Martin and Sean Kennedy co-wrote. On to 2020... Not long after the year began, Ekoh released "Peace," which features Ember. Due to the alacrity of Ekoh releases, the production credits have yet to be sorted out. Rob Endling, Sean Kennedy and Curtis Martin all had a hand in the track. CM Talkington's debut album has a [...]

Cadium Music Publishing’s Year-End Highlights

2014 was a continuation of 2013 with more notable moments for Cadium Music...- In This Moment's, Blood, continued to sell, and with the guidance of Kevin and Kane Churko in the studio, the band landed a new record deal with Atlantic.ITM's new album, Black Widow, has been out less than five weeks, but the group (and the label) is in full support of the record.  Prediction: ITM's, "The Fighter," is the sleeper track on the album (think crossover radio), but won't get much attention until early next year.- Cisco DeLuna's collaboration with Nashville's Annie Bosko is producing results.  While not written by Cisco, [...]

Cadium Music’s 2013

Thanks to Cadium Music Publishing's talented writers, 2013 was a good year. Some of the highlights include Kevin and Kane Churko each winning a Juno for their engineering work for Five Finger Death Punch's American Capitalist and In This Moment's Blood albums.  Kane is the youngest person in Juno history to win in the Engineering category.  "Battle Born," from FFDP's Volume 2 album topped the rock radio charts. Lorenzo had a really good year on the road, finally playing in cities that have been waiting for the band to play, well, for a long time. Cisco DeLuna played a significant role in Jim [...]

Let’s Call It “Alternativo,” Instead of “Latin Alternative”

The emerging genre, "Latin Alternative," is a label to more or less separate some of the newer artists that have arrived on the scene over the last few years that don't exactly fit in some of the various Latin styles that many of us have come to know. Artists such as Ximena Sariñana, Café Tacuba and Zoé have been tagged with the Latin Alternative name, but the name isn't quite right. In an interview with Jasmine Garsd and Felix Contreras, who host NPR's "Alt.Latino," for About.com, Contreras brings up a good point: "Latin Alternative" is only used among those in the music industry.
